Philippine Gravity Games! |

WOW!
I mean, WOW! That's what we feel and what we've heard from a lot
of you. And we mean it, wow! You guys came and you brought
it, you took on the hill and you conquered it - both competitors
spectators. Thank you, Maraming ug Daghang salamat. All of
the winners are listed on the Prizes page for your perusal and adulation.
Untold stories - We did not have any safety bales finalized until
Dindo Medina of URATEX stepped in and offered to lend us one and a half
tons of shredded foam to stuff into rice sacks which were only done at
3 PM the day before the event.
And
the surprises, Dandoy - good old 14 year old John Boy Tongko - of Cebu
put on a masterful perfomance on the freestyle, pipping BOTH Gerard
Cancio and Adrian Gonzales (winners of the stoked event a few months
ago).
We should also acknowledge our
marshalls who kept everyone safe, and of course, our venue host
Meralco, who even patched up the roads for us. Mr. Ed Atis of
MERALCO pulled in a crew to smoothen out the roads on Saturday
regardless as they were concerned about the racer safety. Its nice to
know there are nice people in this world.
It was great to have the help of
Whiskey Hill, the originals themselves, on the day itself, with Carlos
Domingo joining Dan Gil and Bonz to judge our freestyle contest.
These guys are all class and the backbone of our sport.
VIDEOS AND PHOTOS - We have a ton of
video and photo coverage that we are trying to make available to anyone
and we will get this organized during the holiday season. For
now, we recommend checking out the fantastic photos by Jackie Millonado and Orly C. Ninon.
We also suggest you get yourself a 2008 Gravity Games Limited Edition Tee
(M, L and XL sizes in red, green and blue) @ P350 only! Email us
at longboardsph@gmail.com and we can deliver it to your place
free-of-charge.
We will be doing minor updates over
the next few weeks as we are all going to slow down for the holidays
and take a bit of a break. The last few weeks have been hectic as
hell as we tried to bring you a world-class gravity games, and well,
check back in January, you have no idea what we have cooking, but it
will blow your mind. Until then, Merry Christmas, Happy New
Year, Skate ever faster, skate ever better, but always skate ever
safer - skate for life.
